Ecumenism in our Parish is supported by many and underpinned by our membership of Churches Together in Cranleigh plus our strong relationships with the Church of England parish in Bramley.

Each Wednesday morning the clergy from the various churches in Cranleigh meet for prayer at St Nicolas Church.  The clergy have lunch together once a month to discuss various ecumenical activities and the Churches plan and celebrate liturgies together throughout the year.

Throughout the year services are held as follows:

• Christmas Carol Service at St Nicolas Church of England Parish Church
• Ecumenical Service for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is held one of the village churches on the Sunday in the octave.
• Open Prayer services at Cranleigh Baptist Church
• Harvest Songs of Praise at one of the churches during the harvest Season.

Women’s World Day of Prayer

“The WWDP service is held on the first Friday of March each year.  All are welcome to attend – men, women and children.  The selected country and its people become the focus of the world’s prayers on the day itself.  The first service of the day takes place on the island of Samoa as dawn breaks.  The world is then circled in prayer for 36 hours and the service is celebrated in over 170 countries until the last one of this special day takes place on American Samoa.”

This is an initiative by the joint Churches in Cranleigh to enable every child to hear the story of the Bible at school in their primary years.  The stories are brought to life through acting and improvising, giving the children the message in an accessible and memorable form.
